Ablevision was created in 2003 with the idea of offering an enrichment opportunity at Triangle, Inc. in Malden, MA.  Triangle is a non profit organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities gain greater dignity, independence and economic self sufficiency through focusing on ability and individual goals.  Partnering with Malden Access Television, Ablevision began with fifteen program participants, two instructors, and a small group of volunteers from the Triangle staff.  Our premiere of episode one was a big success and included city officials, local media, a packed auditorium, and of course, red carpet treatment for cast members and crew!  Today, Ablevision has expanded to over forty members, currently produced sixteen episodes and is broadcast on more than forty local access stations, as well as the internet
!

Ablevision is produced entirely by people with physical and mental disabilities.  Our hope is that people understand some of the joys and challenges we face as we work and go about our daily lives. Our passion, dedication, and eagerness is easily seen in our productions and we hope we can share this with our viewers.  Most importantly, we want everyone to know that we can do anything!

In 2004 Ablevision won the Best Practice Award from Massachusetts APSE recognizing Ablevision’s innovation, imagination and exemplary performance.  In 2007 Ablevision was awarded “Best Diversity Empowerment Video” and the "Rika Welsh Community Impact Award" by the Northeast Alliance for Community Media recognizing organizations making an impact to the community at large. Ablevision was also recognized by the Special Olympics Committee of Massachusetts for its outstanding coverage of the Malden Day Games, and received the "Heroes of Access Award" for exemplary programming from Malden Access Television in 2007.

Ablevision’s studio crew uses state of the art digital equipment at MATV, and the production crew uses portable equipment to create stories in the field.  Some of the episodes include segments about living with blindness, pet therapy, the Special Olympics, and the Boston Flower Show.

Today Ablevision continues to flourish and produce great stories.  We’re hoping to expand our coverage to the national level, as well as bring our program to schools and other organizations dedicated to serving the disabled community.  We hope you’ll continue to join us as we look to our bright future!
